Born Baldemar Huerta in the Rio Grand Valley town of San Benito, Texas in 1937 – Freddy Fender had a career that spanned several decades and touched on elements of Rhythm & Blues, Tejano, Doo-Wop, Soul, Rock ‘n’ Roll, and more. “There was always Freddy Fender music in my house growing up, says Big Sandy, “and it’s an honor to pay this little tribute to the man and his music”.
