Tony Linder : 5th July 1940, Wembley, London – 2012 R.I.P.
« Budding Rock ‘N’ Roll Stars Were Plentiful In Britain Throughout The 1950s, Many Only Dreamed Of Stardom While Many Quietly Wrote & Recorded There Own Songs & Never Let There Dreams Get In There Way Of Living A Full & Productive Life, Tony Linder Was One Of The Latter Group Of Rock ‘N’ Roll Fans That Possessed A Great Musical Talent But Decided To Get A Job, Get Married & Raise A Family Instead Of Following The Haphazard Life Of A Musician.
Tony Was Born 5th July 1940 In Wembley, London, His Family Moved To West Kensington, Where He Grew Up. He Met His Wife Geraldine (Or ‘Gigs’ As She’s More Affectionately Known), In The East End Of London In 1956.
He Did An Apprenticeship At Vickers Armstrong Aerospace, As An Aeronautical Engineer/ Draughtsman, Then Later Moved To Boosey & Hawkes Instruments, As A Draughtsman. While At Vickers, He Apparently Often Played His Guitar In Empty Hangers, Due To The Good Acoustics & Echo.
Tony Was Influenced By The Likes Of Chet Atkins, Bert Weedon, Hank Marvin, Jerry Reed & Early British Skiffle, Lonnie Donegan Etc. He Never Saw Himself As A Serious Musician, Just A Guy Enjoying His Singing & Guitar Playing For His Own Pleasure.
Tony Passed Away In 2012 & Is Survived By His Wife & 2 Children, David & Tracy. His Rock ‘N’ Roll Legacy Has Been Preserved On This Special Four Track EP, Featuring Songs He Wrote In The 1950’s. » Taken From The Darrell Higham E.P. « The Songs Of Tony Linder »
